Shadowcast is unlocked permanently like other elements and can be started with after unlock. Shadowcast will be obtained upon drinking the Nightblood potion the player receives, similar to other trainers. In order to unlock Shadowcast, the player must bring five Umbral Obsidian to the Depths and talk to the trainer, Nostor, found in the City of the Drowned. This finally allows Shadowcast users to unlock the last category, 3-star Mantras Finally, at Shadowcast level 50, players will receive the Master Shadowcaster Talent. This allows players to unlock 2-star Shadowcast mantras At Shadowcast level 30, players will receive the Expert Shadowcaster Talent. This allows players to use 1-star Shadowcast mantras

Dagger and Galebreathe builds are particularly able to make this happen with relatively low mantra reliance and high combo potential respectively. An adept opponent will typically try to end a Shadowcast fight aggressively while countering any stray attacks with high precision. Its delayed action attacks, and reliance on ramping up pressure over time makes Shadowcasters vulnerable to bursting and prediction. However, Shadowcast works best with plenty of time to work with, able to fight at top-shape for long periods of time. This attunement could fit almost any playstyle, as it's main focus is constantly applying pressure to the opponent.

Arguably the best attunement to use heavy with, most likely only rivalled by Galebreathe, this is a very powerful attunement especially after it's buffs. It allows the user to also have a lot of switch up potential. The playstyle of this attunement revolves around stealing your opponent's ability to use mantras in order to switch up, and instead allow you to apply the pressure, evident in its moves that allow you to attack while it is still coming out. Many Shadowcast talents are centered on ether drain and AoE. Shadowcast, similar to Flamecharm, applies a black flame effect on hit that can be stacked. This does come at a cost to its damage output, which tends to be quite low. It is unique due to the fact that it drains ether from those that are hit by its mantras and returns the drained ether to the caster. Shadowcast is an attunement that the player is required to unlock and cannot start with.
